Description

Responsible for and leads all operational activities that occur within the distribution center. Manages the daily inbound/outbound activities within the distribution center. Ensures all standards of quality, safety, productivity and facility financials are achieved. Makes frequent independent judgments to ensure operations and tasks are performed in a safe manner consistent with company policies, state and federal laws. Mentors and develops direct and indirect exempt staff and helps coordinate and drive all non-exempt team building initiatives to ensure a healthy, productive, and fun work environment.

1.    Responsible for the interviewing, hiring and supervision of Operations Managers and DC Supervisors; provides ongoing training and development of all operations management and hourly associates within the Distribution facility, sets performance goals and provides evaluative feedback to all direct reports.
2.    Initiates, conducts and seeks appropriate approvals involving Human Resources policies, wage administration, hiring, performance reviews, progressive counseling and disciplinary action up to and including terminations.
3.    Oversees the planning and forecasting of production requirements to ensure the financial plan is met or exceeded.
4.    Assists in the preparation of annual budgets and the execution of budget results.
5.    Ensures compliance with company standards of safety, facility maintenance and postings/notifications.
6.    Manages communication for the Distribution facility between Executive Management, other Distribution Centers, Supply Chain support groups and various corporate departments to guarantee coordination of effort.
7.    Takes proactive role in establishing and carrying out shrinkage control disciplines and programs and accepts high level of responsibility for Distribution Center’s shrinkage performance.
8.    Conducts any operational audits of distribution facility activities as requested by Director.
9.    Prepares and analyzes various reports to ensure proper management of the Distribution facility; identifies opportunities and provides recommendations to Director for improving facility operating performance.
10.    Assesses store service performance and inventory movement.
11.    Establishes and enforces operational procedures to ensure accurate shipment of merchandise to retail stores.
12.    Assists in developing productivity standards for labor management.
13.    Assumes lead responsibilities on special projects as designated by Director.
14.    In absence of the Director of the distribution center, fulfills the role and responsibilities as necessary.



Qualification

1.    Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Business or Logistics preferred, with five to seven years of experience in a management function within a Distribution Center required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2.    At least 5 years of experience in the management of multi-function distribution center(s) required.
3.    Direct experience in distribution operations, supply chain analysis and/or transportation preferred.
4.    Demonstrable leadership ability required.
5.    Thorough knowledge of supply chain management required.
6.    Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and general personal computing required.
7.    Ability to perform physical activity at a sustained pace including walking, bending and lifting within a Distribution Center environment required.
8.    Some travel required (less than 50%).
9.    Ability and willingness to relocate strongly preferred.

The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.
